This exclusive experience brings together two gastronomic partners: El Palace Barcelona and Catalan’s renowned winemaker, Jean Leon. His life inspired numerous books and documentaries, which recount his travels to America and friendships with Hollywood stars James Dean and Marilyn Monroe before returning to Spain to set up his eponymous vineyard in 1963.
Jean Leon produces 12 different wines that highlight the vineyard’s distinct flavours and preference for carefully crafted limited-edition bottles. Each wine is the work of a generation of winemakers, who follow in the footsteps of the masterful Jaume Rovira, Jean Leon’s closest collaborator who introduced barrel-fermented white wines that revolutionised winegrowing in the region. All of Jean Leon’s wines have been certified organic since 2012. They maintain the biological rhythm of the grapevine to achieve naturally balanced wines.
A private car will take guests from the hotel to the picturesque Jean Leon cellars in the Penedès wine region, located an hour away from Barcelona. Here, they will be able to explore the scenic vineyards, have a guided tour of the wine cellars, and enjoy a tasting of three of the cellar’s top vintages.
Guests will enjoy traditional Catalan dishes that pair perfectly with their wines, including pâté from Penedès, Catalan botifarra, and a selection of local artisan cheeses, while soaking up the panoramic views of the Catalan countryside from the vineyard and winery.
After a day exploring the spectacular area surrounding the city, guests will return to Barcelona. A private car will bring them back to El Palace Barcelona where they can continue relaxing in the hotel’s 1500 m2 rooftop garden with its restaurant and swimming pool, indulge in a treatment at the Mayan Luxury Spa, or retreat to their neoclassical-inspired room or suite.
