Chef Jesús Caballero, leading michelin star experience

With more than 10 years of international experience as Executive Chef, Caballero joins Hotel El Palace Barcelona after many years working in the kitchen with leading Michelin-star chefs, including Martín Berasategui in his three-Michelin star restaurant, Lasarte.

Caballero was born in Zaragoza and was previously Executive Chef at Hotel Maria Cristina, a Luxury Collection Hotel, located in San Sebastian, Basque Country, one of Spain’s leading regions for fine dining, where he developed his traditional yet contemporary signature dishes celebrating local Basque ingredients. During his time at Hotel Maria Cristina, Caballero travelled internationally to destinations such as Tokyo, Cairo, and Calcutta to promote Basque gastronomy. Prior to his time at Hotel Maria Cristina, Caballero led the kitchen as Executive Chef at the five-star hotel, Le Meridien Ra Beach Hotel & Spa in El Vendrell, in Tarragona.

Deeply rooted in Basque tradition, Caballero’s exceptional technique enhances the natural flavours of classic, local, and seasonal ingredients to create signature dishes that are deceivingly simple versions of Basque classics, pure in flavour, and contemporary and elegant in presentation. As he returns to Catalonia where he worked for over 20 years, Caballero brings to El Palace Barcelona his love and passion for Basque gastronomy as well as for Catalan cuisine, fusing the renowned and iconic Basque and Catalan culinary styles.

The Bluesman concerts

For three days a week, the Bluesman becomes a concert hall with jazz, blues and soul, from local and international bands such as Reckless (Blues Power), Nika Mills (Pop & Jazz), The Summer Lovers, New Sabrosura Band , The Crabtones, The 4 Shots, Los Carosones among others.

Without forgetting that it would not be the first or the last time that the surprising tradition of some of the great artists who stay at El Palace Barcelona going down to the premises, having a drink, relaxing and improvising could be repeated any night. Politicians, artists, celebrities and popular culture icons from around the world have passed through the hotel's doors over the years, many making their way into the basement club.

Ronnie Woods of the Rolling Stones has been the latest celebrity to perform here. Woods (who has a flat in Barcelona) is one of the sponsors of the Bluesman Cocktail Bar and his painting Bluesman was inspired by the name of the club, it is an original work in black and white that he revised in color after visiting the Sagrada Familia. The painting is on display at the Bluesman.
