Barcelona, 16th of September 2024 – El Palace Barcelona is delighted to announce its latest art exhibition ‘Postales’ by Valencian illustrator Joel Miñana. The exhibition will be in display in the hotel’s majestic hall until the 5th of January.
El Palace Barcelona continues to invest in the close link between the hotel and the arts, supporting the work of both established and emerging artists. Visiting the exhibition is free of charge, making it a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the history of one of the city’s oldest hotels and enjoy its beauty as you peruse the stunning artwork.
Joel Miñana’s greatest passion is telling stories through drawings, capturing the essence of an early 20th-century illustrator and giving it a modern twist. This creative artist quickly and effortlessly captures everything that happens around him, immortalising it on canvas or paper with acrylics. Be it a seemingly trivial moment at a party, the ethereal light of a sunset or a Haute Couture Fashion Week show in Paris. Joel has worked for prestigious brands such as Bridal Fashion Week, 080 Barcelona Fashion, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Hermés, Dior, Cartier, Pronovias and Stephane Rolland.
Inspired by life’s little moments, the ‘Postales’ series evokes memories of everyday life: the reflection of the sun in water, a lighthouse’s first light, droplets resting on leaves. His work is an ode to the beauty of the Mediterranean, as well as the artist’s own life. His works masterfully capture the depth and simplicity of these moments, encouraging us to rediscover the magic and celebrate the harmony between nature and the human experience.
His compositions use horizontality as a symbol of stillness, while the colours blue and white represent harmony and serenity. Each piece exudes a sense of tranquillity. Furthermore, the distribution of the works around the hotel’s hall provides a visual journey that lets the eye witness the sun’s changing intensity from dawn to night.
In the pieces titled El taller, La jungla, El Baile and El Cóctel, El Palace Barcelona becomes the setting, background and protagonist of the art itself. The hotel enjoys a special relationship with Joel Miñana, who has been an artist in residence throughout 2020 and now offers illustration workshops to all guests.
