El Palace loves wine

This exclusive experience brings together two gastronomic partners – El Palace Barcelona and Catalan’s renowned wine maker Jean Leon whose life inspired numerous books and documentaries recounting his travels to America and friendships with Hollywood stars James Dean and Marilyn Monroe, before he returned to Spain and set up his eponymous vineyard in 1963.

A private transfer will transport guests from the hotel to the picturesque Jean Leon cellars in the region of Penedès, an hour from Barcelona where they can explore the scenic vineyards, a guided tour of the wine cellars and a wine tasting of three of the cellars’ top vintages.

Jean Leon produces 12 different wines which highlight the vineyard’s distinct flavours and preference for carefully crafted limited edition bottles. Each wine is the work of a generation of winemakers who follow in the footsteps of the masterful Jaume Rovira, Jean Leon’s closest collaborator who introduced barrel fermented white wines that revolutionised winegrowing in the region. All of Jean Leon wines have been certified organic since 2012 and maintain the biological rhythm of the grapevine and achieve naturally balanced wines.

Guests will enjoy traditional Catalan tapas that pair perfectly with their wines, including Penedès pâté, Catalan Moja Botifarra and a selection of local artisan cheeses as they soak up the panoramic views of the Catalan countryside from the vineyard and winery.

After a day exploring the spectacular surrounding area, guests return by private transfer to El Palace Barcelona and can continue relaxing at the hotel’s 1500m2 Rooftop Garden with restaurant and swimming pool, indulge in a spa treatment at the Luxury Mayan Spa or retreat to their neoclassical-inspired signature room or suite.
